This season, the Front Royal Oratorio Society is adding a second performance of their Christmas concert. Newly-named musical director George T. Amos will conduct the volunteer chorus in a program of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah, Christmas anthems, and carol arrangements and medleys.
On Dec. 3 for the first time in many years, the Oratorio Society will present an evening concert in Boggs Chapel at Randolph-Macon Academy. On Dec. 9, the chorus returns to the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, where it has performed for the past thirty-five seasons.
Amos and members of the society board of directors decided upon the music program recently. In addition to the Messiah, the chorus will sing “Hymn to the Virgin” by Benjamin Britten, “O Magnum Mysterium” by Francis Poulenc, Donald Neuen’s
