antiqued structures to romanticize.
The montage of silk and hand made paper as well as other things that Eunice Wenger calls “Signs and Symbols" is two works in one: seen close up, its textures and intricate designs have unique sensuous beauty, but that impression tends to disappear as one looks at the picture from across the room, when all sorts of depths and larger design elements emerge. Wenger is a gifted, powerful artist.
These comments touch only a few of the remarkable pieces in this exhibition. Again, I want to congratulate June Jordan for her administration of the associated artists whose increasingly admirable works make a singularly enriching contribution to our community.
