The first county teachers to receive Headwaters grants, in June of 1997, have both of their programs fully implemented. Marti Cannon’s kindergarten class has be6h happily building this year with the wooden blocks that she requested in her grant proposal, and Ed Rissler’s 7th graders have started their recycling program.
The original set of only 30 blocks in Cannon’s class was simply not enough for her children to use, and her instructional funds had to be used for more basic needs such as pur-* chasing markers, paint and other day to day supplies. The
