King celebration scheduled

Rappahannock County’s seventh annual Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration will be held at The. Theatre at Washington on Gay and Jett Streets in Washington at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18. The event is sponsored by the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Committee. It is free and open to the public. All are welcome. For information call 987-8339 or contact The Theatre.

Movie to be shown

RAAC will show the hit mega-movie, “Seven Years in Tibet” at The Theatre on Gay Street, Friday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m.

“Seven Years in Tibet” is an account of Austrain mountaineer and Nazi-party member Heinrich Harrer. Late in the story, which takes Harrer to Tibet in the latter stages of World War II, Mao Zedong’s troops invade the mountainous nation with unequivocal and unprovoked brutality. Admission is $5 for adults, children under 12 years $3. Advance series tickets $16 for four admissions.

Band boosters to meet

The Rappahannock Band Boosters meeting will be held in the Rappahannock County High School Library on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

March for Life planned

Hundreds of thousands of Christians and non-Christians will be participating in the March for Life on Thursday, Jan. 22 in Washington, D.C. This day will mark the 25th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision which has brought about the killing of an estimated 37,000,000 U.S. citizens. St. Peter Catholic Church has arranged for bus transportation to Washington, D.C. and invites everyone to join its parishioners for the March for Life. Wakefield open house

Wakefield School will host an admissions open house on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. The public and especially prospective students and their parents, are invited. Wakefield is an independent day school with a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum for 290 boys and girls.
