The Rappahannock News racked up nine awards in this year’s Virginia Press Association News and Editorial Competitions. The paper is judged in the nondaily group one category which is for papers of less than 3,999 circulation.

There are three divisions of competition: Writing — which is judged in 16 categories; graphics/photography — judged in eight categories; and makeup — a layout and design division judged in eight categories. Points are given for each award — three points for first, two for second and one for third.
