Now is the time for all young musicians to time up their instruments and vocalize their voices. The Rappahannock Lions Club has sponsored annual Bland Music contests for many years as part of a statewide program dedicated to encouraging student skills and to provide a showcase for their unique talents.

This year’s competition is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 at The Theatre in Washington, Va. Student musicians are eligible to participate if they reside in Rappahannock or are attending school in the county. Registration forms will be available at school offices, at the public library, from music teachers or Lions Club members.

As in past years, cash awards to the winners and certificates of participation to all students who perform will be contributed by the Lions Club. All interested students are encouraged to act now to choose the music they would ei\joy performing for an audience of family and friends. The sooner you decide the more time you’ll have to rehearse and the better your performance will be.
