the bad journalistic habit of half-covering important meetings. Last week’s (Jan. 7) inadequate coverage of the Jan. 5 Board of Supervisors’ meetings ended with this paragraph: “Other items discussed by the board will be reported in next week’s edition of the Rappahannock News.” What is this? News on the installment plan? Why should readers have to wait an additional week to find out what happened? You have begun telling readers to “wait till next week” in your coverage of many important meetings, from the supervisors to the Washington Town Council. If your excuse is that there is no space for a i full story, I’m afraid that won’t wash. Nothing is more important than the decisions by the board of supervisors, which you held to 14 column inches last week, while devoting 58 inches to two stories on post offices (which included several inches on postal service in Ben Franklin’s time.)
