Kater receives much of his inspiration from nature and native cultures, trying to make each album unique and distinctive. Returning periodically to Germany, Kater “stayed at Bavarian guest houses. “Hiking through the Alps made a deep impression on me,” he mused. The old European folklore, tales of gnomes, fairies, and nature spirits “made me what I am.”
Eight years ago, he moved from Colorado to the county, searching for a multi-cultural, nature-centered home base.
He Anally settled on a 52-acre farm on the Thornton River near Castleton with wife Chris White, a successful actress, song-writer, and performer in her own right, and children Gwendolyn, 11, Griffin, 8, and Fiona, 2.
