Mr. and Mrs. Paul Poling recently entertained guests Tom and Joni (Gruelle) Wannamaker from Tucker, Ga. along with Mr. and Mrs. Rick Graham and Mrs. Ella Nelles of Culpeper.
Joni is the granddaughter of the late Johnny Gruelle, author and creator of Raggedy Ann books and dolls. She is noted artist and presented one of her Raggedy Ann drawings to the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue for their annual spring auction. Joni and Tom plan to open “The Johnny Gruelle Raggedy Ann and Andy Museum” in Areola, 111. next year and were impressed when they visited the Poling’s “Raggedy Firehouse Museum” for ideas!
Contestants are being sought for the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Carnival’s Queen, Princess, and Little Princess. Winning is based upon the number of tickets each young lady sells for the cash drawings held on the last night of the carnival. The age groups are: Queenages 14-20, Princess ages 8-13, and Little Princess-ages 3-7. To register and receive tickets, please contact Sandi Carter at 937-4218.
