Massie said the club decided to do it because Baines has been a faithful friend and member of the group for about 20 years.
She moved to Tappahannock some years back but has driven up regularly for bridge club meetings for “about the last 10 years,” said Massie.
“She is a fighting survivor )' and we hope one day to have her back,” Massie said.
She said Baines is probably best remembered by residents here as a teacher. She taught 7th grade for 15 years at Rappahannock Elementary School. She was the person who initiated the now annual Williamsburg field trip for the elementary school students.
The team has about 10 i members and is presently working to raise money for the event. Other teams are also working to raise money and still seeking new members to walk.
