Halloween definitely demands pumpkins, and there are a number of varieties you might consider. “Big Max” and “Big Moon” will produce pumpkins big enough for Cinderella’s carriage, but require an enormous amount of garden space. “Jack-O-Lantern” and “Spookie” have medium and small size fruit, respectively. “Spirit” produces a medium size fruit on a bush plant for those with small gardens. “Jack Be Little” is the tiny ornamental pumpkin that excited everyone last year.
Herbs can season Thanksgiving dinner
Thanksgiving brings to mind the herb garden with sage, thyme, oregano, and mints to season the feast. However, don’t forget that plants from your landscape can produce the table centerpiece and other decorative elements. Unless there has been an unusually severe freeze, some of the late chrysanthemum varieties will still be lovely
