Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy mentioned that the Fodderstack 10K has experienced just one day of rain in the last 14 years.
He also thinks that if we have good weather again this year that the course records, which have stood for a number of years, could be broken. The course record for men is 31:26, held by Steve Pinard. The women’s mark of 36:46 is held by Kim Belyea.
The Virginia Savings Bank of Front Royal is donating a $300 cash prize for any runner who breaks the course record. If both the men’s and women’s records are broken, $150 will be awarded to each runner.
As of April 16, 124 runners have registered for the event. There are 64 males and 60 females registered, and over half of the runners are 40 years of age and over. McCarthy noted that there are two age groups for runners between the ages of 50 and 59, due to the large number of runners entered that are in that age range.
