the county
Larceny of an automobile and vandalism to a sign on a public building in Washington were among the incidents investigated by the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office over the past week.
According to the report filed by the investigating officer, a brown 1975 Oldsmobile with Virginia registration YVG-4480 was stolen from a residence on Richmond Road in Castleton between 9:30 p.m. on April 15 and the early hours of April 16.
Sheriff Larry Sherertz is asking that anyone with information regarding this theft contact the Sheriff’s Office at (540) 675-3331.
Sign damaged
The sign at the Rappahannock County Health Department was reported vandalized on the morning of April 15.
The word “Klepto” was written on the sign. The incident is under investigation.
Larceny reported
Rappahannock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a larceny on Church Lane in Sperryville on the evening of April 14.
Details on the incident were not available at press time, but the Sheriff’s Office reports that they have a suspect.
Driver apprehended
Deputy Connie Compton stopped an automobile on Richmond Road after the driver crossed the center lane twice.
The driver, Douglas Waters, 41, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license.
Serious Accident
A car overturned on U.S. 522 between Sperryville and Woodville on the afternoon of April 16.
The driver, who was not identified by the authorities, was injured and ■ taken to a hospital. The person’s condition is not known as of press time.
