The wide variety of activities and the short duration of the classes has made “super summer seminars” one of the more popular summer programs for Fauquier children.
The week-long seminars are open to children age four through seventh grade. Sponsored by Parent Advocates for Gifted Children, the sessions are conducted by teachers, parents and local business people.
Last year 28 local teachers and more than 270 children took part in the program, according to organizer Susan Christy.
“The kids love it and the teachers love it and the parents love it because the kids love it,” Christy said.
The group will “take over” Taylor Middle School for the week-long program, running June 28 to July 2.
Classes last one hour each and involve games, music, exercise, sci- i ence, art and age-specific activities. i
There’s story-time for preschoolers < and basketball and soccer and theater exercises for the older kids. There’s 1 also a class where students can learn 1 about the ocean.
