Hoffman takes her charges on nature hikes, and during the day they spend much of their time swimming, making arts and crafts and running around on the hills and meadows of the 137-acre farm.
Jim Walker is a Madison parent whose daughter will be enrolling for her fourth summer at Belle Meade. He was so impressed with the program that he convinced Madison County to pay to send four underprivileged kids there this year.
The price tag for a two-week session is just over $200. This fee includes daily transportation to the farm from one of five drop-off spots.
Hoffman and Biniek will be holding two open houses, May 2 and June 5, so prospective campers and their parents can take a look at the camp. Any interested parents should call 987-9748.
