If ever there was someone who would be excused for breaking their arm while patting themselves on the back, it would have to be Amissville’s own Samantha Breeden.
This remarkable young singer won first place in the Rappahannock County Bland Contest and on March 20 received second .place honors in the District Bland Contest at Warrenton Middle School. Samantha auditioned in February for Governor’s School with approximately 400 other vocalists.
Thirty were chosen statewide to attend the four week school in July at the University of Richmond which includes several classes and private voice instruction.
Last week, Samantha learned she is one of the 30 talented individuals who was selected. Congratulations, Samantha, and “break a leg”!
Happy anniversary wishes are extended to Frank and Anne McWhirt who celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 17. They were joined by family and friends from Fredericksburg, Newport News and California. May God bless you both with many more years together.

Tickets are available until May 13 for the Beanie Baby raffle fund raiser sponsored by the Rappahannock County Elementary School’s PTO. First prize will consist of 14 beanie bears, second prize will be three bears with two other beanies, and five mixed beanies will make up the third prize.
