Hatha Yoga classes to begin

Hatha Yoga classes will again be offered at Moose Hill Farms near Slate Mills, in two six-week sessions beginning April 26 and April 28. Beginners and experienced students are welcome. Morning sessions will be held Mondays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and evening sessions on Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Classes combine stretching, breathing and relaxation exercises to tone the nerves, muscles, glands, ligaments and joints. The results include reduced stress and increased flexibility and strength, simultaneously calming and energizing the mind and body. SummerQuest applications available

Gifted and talented students presently in grades 5, 6 and 7 are eligible to apply for a two week summer program held at Rappahannock County Elementary School. There is no cost. SummerQuest runs from July 26 to Aug. 6. The theme for this year is Brain Power: You Don’t Have to Be a Genius to Think Like One. Classes are offered in the areas of art, history, math, music, science and writing. Deadline for applications is April 30.

Saturday, April 24: Women’s Hike Series, destination: White Oak Canyon Falls, meet at Mountainside Market by 9 a.m. or at the parking area at Berry Hollow by 9:30 a.m. Bring food for self, layered clothing and your Shenandoah National Park pass or $5 for the Park Ranger. Saturday, May land Sunday, May 2: “Rappahannock Flotilla” River Clean-up and Float Trips. Enjoy the beauty of the upper Rappahannock River waterways while helping to keep them clean! Contact: Dave Duncan at 675-1983 or dduncan@shentel.net for information on times, water level, etc.

Saturday, May 8: “Blue Ridge to the Bay” Second Saturday Hike Series to upper Raappahannock River tributaries in the Shenandoah National Park. Destination: Robinson River of Rapidan River sub-watershed along White Oak Canyon and Cedar Run Trail loop. Bring food for self and layered clothing according to the weather of the day. Note: $5 SNP trail fee or annual pass required on this hike. Meet at Mountainside Market, 987-9100 between 8-8:30 a.m. and return mid-to-late afternoon. Contact Hunt Harris at 987-3366.
