A couple of tlje private schools in the county have extensive camp programs planned for summer.
Highland School in Warrenton and Wakefield School in The Plains provide programs that any child might find interesting, informative, fun or academically challenging.
Highland School
The program at Highland School is split into two sections, the academic program apd the camp program.
Highland teacher Paul Horgan is the director of the academic program, and there are six courses offered for students who are interested in obtaining credit for their work and getting ahead a bit in their core subjects.
They are not for students who have failed the courses in American history, government, world literature, geometry, Spanish and French. The courses start in late June and finish in July.
There also is a course in driver’s education, as well as two that prepare students to take the SAT exams.
The courses offered for younger children range from hands-on math to three computer courses to courses for those interested in horses, art, dinosaurs, the solar system, the rain forest, and many others.
Additionally, there are the sports camps that teach — or enhance — skills in soccer, fly fishing, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, cheerleading, tennis and volleyball.
