Annual fundraiser
at Baptist Church
The annual spring event fundraiser for the Washington Baptist Church will be held on Saturday, April 24, during the Fodderstack Race. Activities will start at 10 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. There will be a silent auction, a “grandma’s attic”, bake sale, hamburgers and hot dogs. This event will take place on the grounds of the church and all proceeds will go toward the building fund. Contact the church office at 675-3336 for information.
Garden sale set
The Trinity Church Garden Guild in Washington is sponsoring its second annual “Great Spring Garden Sale” on Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, under the big tent opposite the church. Proceeds will benefit a stunning new garden on the Middle Street side of the church, opposite The Inn at Little Washington. Tomas Fernandez will display recent examples of garden sculpture, Scott McBride will sell and sign his just-out book Landscaping with Wood, and Merrill Strange will offer cachepots made especially for the sale. Come buy and beautify.
Pageant scheduled
The annual Miss Rappahannock Pageant sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. The contestant must be a resident of Rappahannock County. This year the categories will include the following: Miss Rappahannock, Junior Miss, Little Miss, Wee Miss, Tiny Tot, Little Mr. Rappahannock, Sisters, Mother/Daughter and Grandmother/Granddaughter.
