This is a reprise of a story that ran previously in the Times-Democrat. The author is still recovering from 4-H camp.

Alleluia. I have returned from the land of the perennially perky.

My six-year-old daughter and I spent the weekend at a family 4-H event. We were Cloverbuds for two days and we survived.

Silly songs, hand signs, Native American tribal rituals, swarms of gnats and camp food were all conquered successfully.

Actually, the dynamics of the weekend were very interesting. Upon our arrival Friday night, Katie was, shall we say, “overstimulated.” “Out of her mind” with excitement is another way to put it.

She dragged me all around camp, showing me every classroom, bathroom and dead bug she remembered from her winter weekend as a Cloverbud (without me).
