Sara Hoffman and her husband Mike Biniek run a bed-and-breakfast and an organic farm near Sperryville. They also have a summer camp therte.
On top of that, they are building a pond.
“Everything is a learning experience out here,” Hoffman said.
Belle Meade day camp runs all summer, in five two-week sessions. It is aimed at 6- to 13-year-olds, mostly local kids from Rappahannock and surrounding counties such as Fauquier, Madison and Culpeper.
Hoffman, a former elementary school teacher, said she enjoys the chance to meet her neighbors and their kids. With the bed-and-breakfast, she explained, they only meet out-of-towners.
Hoffman and Biniek enlist the aid of several counselors — usually high school and college students on summer break — and keep about 30 kids during the days for each two-week session. The camp is mostly geared towards having fun, she explained, with some lessons
