Resolution deferred
At the behest of Treasurer Elaine Viguerie, the Council did not consider a request by the Conservation Land Coalition to pass a resolution supporting a dedicated funding source for land conservation in Virginia. The Conservation Land Coalition was formed two years ago for the purpose af “securing a dedicated mechanism for land conservation in Virginia,” and is proposing that the Commonwealth set aside $40 million per year from its share of the real estate recordation tax. At its last meeting the Board of Supervisors approved this same resolution, and the Town Council will review this request at its next monthly meeting.
