He was born Aug. 29, 1916 in Detroit, Mich, and was the son of the late Howard and Marian Brown Obey. He was married to the late Carol Aldrich Obey.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia O. Stamps of Westport, Conn. and Woodville, Carolyn O. Bromberg of Elmira, N.Y. and Kathryn O. Anderson of Boston, Mass.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Obey was a retired chemical engineer and President of the Food Division of Blawnox Corp., he was a member of the A.I.C.H.E., the Park Country Club of Williamsville, N.Y., a Fellow at the Mellon Institute of Pittsburg, Pa., worked with Henry Ford, was past President of the Danville Foundry; was an accomplished golfer, sailer, antique clock hobbyist and patented inventor.
A memorial funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Walker Chapel United Methodist Church in Arlington with inurement in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dan Ivey officiated.
Preddy Funeral Home of Orange was in charge of the arrangements.
