Wakefield Country Day School in Flint Hill welcomes eight new teachers to the staff this fall. Headmaster Michael Vargo announced the addition of four new teachers in the upper school and four teachers in the lower and middle school.
April Heddleston will be teaching second grade at Wakefield. Mrs. Heddleston brings a background in early childhood education with a B.A. from Kent State University and a M.A. from Shenandoah University. She has taught second grade, been a school librarian, a volunteer coordinator, and an editor of Welcome Home, a national publication dealing with education, motherhood and missions. Heddleston lives in Sperryville with her husband and four children.
Courtney Beeton returns to the Wakefield campus as a teacher of fifth and sixth grade English, sixth grade literature, and seventh and eighth grade geography/earth science. Beeton is “coming home,” having attended as a student from 1983-93. She was graduated in 1997 from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in environmental sciences and a minor in religious studies.
