Amber Welch of Flint Hill F has been accepted by Youth for Y Understanding (YFU) 8 International Exchange as an international exchange student. Amber will live with a family in Australia on the . YFU 2000 Spring Semester program.
Amber currently attends Rappahannock County High School in Washington.
YFU was established in 1951 as a private, non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting international understanding and world peace through exchange programs for high school students.
Now, more than 40 years later, YFU operates exchange programs in more than two dozien countries and has ten regional offices in the United States, an International Center in Washington, DC, and a worldwide network of several thousand volunteers and more than 175,000 alumni.
In addition. to the American Overseas Program, YFU offers families in the U.S. the opportunity to host an international student from one of over thirty countries.

Applications are now being accepted for the title of Mrs. Rappahannock International, pn official preliminary to the Mrs. Virginia International Pageant, which is to be presented at the Paramount Theatre in Bristol on June 3 and 4, 2000. ; The woman chosen as Mrs. Rappahannock International will become an ambassador From the Rappahannock area )and will receive an official title and sash.
The woman chosen as Mrs. Virginia International will receive a prize package valued in excess of $5,000. I Competitions will include interview, aerobic wear and Evening gown. There is no swimsuit competition.
