Seeding
As part of the Sperryville beautification project, VDOT workers spray wildflower seeds mixed with water on the bank near the turn lane at Shaw’s Garage. About 30 to 40 pounds of seed were sprayed on the bank. The flowers that will hopefully grow there include Daisy, Yarrow, Tickseed, Blackeyed Susan, Bachelor’s Button and Rocket Larkspur. Paper Mache Mulch was sprayed or> top of the seed to help keep it in the ground. Bill Watson from VDOT says that some plants may bloom next spring, but that full bloom is probably two years away. “If everything goes ideally, it will be the second spring before we see full bloom,” said Watson.
