Elections

Things are starting to heat up. Now

would be a good time to get involved.

Watch the Rappahannock News next week for profiles on the local candidates, as well as candidates for the General Assembly, in this year’s general election. Vith the elections less than two months away, things v* ill start to heat up soon. Even though many candidates are running unopposed, there are still a number >t'contested races that bear watching.

Reading the paper next week will give you some information about the candidates, but don’t stop there. Like we mentioned before, these people who are running for office are listed in the phone book. If you wish to speak with them about something, give them a call. There are also likely to be a number of public events and forums which will provide opportunities for the public to learn about the candidates. In fact, some candidates are already pounding the pavement.

The people we elect in November will represent us for the next two or four years, depending on the office except for the Clerk of Court, who will serve an eight year term) We are not only deciding who will run ountv government, but also who will represent us in Kichmond. We owe it to ourselves to get involved in i he process. If you don’t become involved, then what 'ght do you have to complain when you don’t like the >bs our elected leaders are doing?
