A VDOT truck was damaged in a minor accident on Sept. 9 at about 1:20 p.m. The driver, 50 year-old Richard Harper of Locust Grove, Va., was travelling on Route 614 west of Route 622. He pulled into a ditch to let oncoming traffic go by, as 614 is a narrow gravel road. When Harper pulled over, he struck a locust stump in the embankment. Damage to the truck is estimated at $1500. Harper was not injured.
Valerie Edwards, 49, of Flint Hill suffered minor injuries in a two-car accident near Chester Gap shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 9. Ms. Edwards was travelling on U.S. 522 when she signaled and stopped to turn onto a private driveway just north of Route 632. She was hit from behind by a 16 year-old male driving a 1992 Pontiac coupe.
Damage was estimated at $200 for Ms. Edwards’ 1989 Toyota wagon and $100 to the Pontiac. The 16 year-old has been charged with following too close.
