have seen somewhere else, which may or may not be what the artist had in mind. That doesn’t matter. One of her pictures called “Portico” is a series of rounded arches with a few vaguely suggested capitals. It is colored gray, lavender, orange, ocher and gold, made of hand-made paper, rubber mat and foil. The light this image reflects as a whole reminds me of the Byzantine world.
Wenger’s work conveys richness and depth. In a statement accompanying this exhibition, she says in part, “I value art as a way to bridge the gap between myself and others...These themes are found not only in daily activities but also in foreign culture, in articles and books, in nature, in geometric symbolism and in dreams...I am rewarded with hours of absorbing work...” Her viewers are rewarded too.
