Last week the fourth-seventh grade t teachers at RCES hosted an Open House for parents and students who wished to learn > more about the programs and curriculunts being offered this year. The evening requited , a great deal of planning and some rescheduling by staff members and we are very grate- - Y ful to all of them for their efforts. We are happy to announce that overall - SOL test scores throughout our systemimproved last year. Though there is still room, *1 for improvement in some areas we are very ] proud of the hard w-ork and dedication of all > ] of our students and teachers in tackling this, , difficult and stressful task in such a positive >: way. Third grade students (this year’s fourth - . graders), however did especially well and 1 received the highest scores in the system, > especially in math where they were amongthe highest scorers in the state. Their kinder1garten-third grade teachers and their parents are to be commended as well. Third grade teachers last year were Mrs. Carol Johnson, Mrs. Holly Propst, Mrs. Virginia Striplin and Ms. Beth Tillinghast. 7 • •
