In his report later in the meeting, Superintendent Gangel confirmed that there is a problem with SOL test evaluation-the Commonwealth has, for example, lumped the fourth grade predictor testing results (fourth graders may take a fifth grade SOL test to predict their instructional needs) with fifth grade results, thus skewing the performance data. Dr. Gangel requested and received the authority to contact the State Department of Education to seek a solution to this problem.
