Rep. Eric I. Cantor’s million-dollar campaign paid off as the incumbent Republican congressman won reelection in the 7th District to a second term with nearly 70 percent of the vote, but he lost Rappahannock County to Democratic challenger and county resident Ben L. "Cooter" Jones.
Congressman Cantor, who raised nearly $1.3 million, about 10 times the amount Mr. Jones raised, received 113,396 votes compared to 49,435 received by Mr. Jones.
