The Virginia Department of Health is advising people to get their flu shots, especially those people who are at high risk of complications from influenza. The best time to receive influenza vaccine is during October and November. The shots are available at local health departments for $12. The next clinic scheduled in Rappahannock is for Thursday, Nov. 7 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the County Health Department.
"We encourage those most at risk for complications from the flu to be vaccinated sooner rather than later. People at high risk are more vulnerable to serious illness or even death from the flu," said State Health Commissioner Robert Stroube, M.D., M.P.H.
