Down the road near Old Salem School lives a man who has contributed so much to his community; he is Lt. Nathaniel Jasper, a very respected police officer for the town of Culpeper, who will be retiring on Jan. 31. Each Halloween, at his home, he puts on the annual “scarefest” which is free and open to the public. This event draws thousands of young people and adults, who on many occasions get the scare of their life. Jasper is 53 years old, was raised by his grandmother and began working and paying his own way since he was 14 years of age.
When he is not on his police job and has spare time, he substitutes as a school bus driver for the Culpeper School
