Mrs. Davies’ advice for traditional arranging includes placing the foundation greenery in the oasis first. She uses “what she has” in her garden, whether it be cabbage, kale, basil, rosemary or acuba. All the stems should appear to be coming from the center of the arrangement, the center of its energy and growth. The height of the arrangement should be one-and-one- half to two times the height of the container. The larger flowers should be placed toward the bottom of the design.
