At the time or the development of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance in 1986 I objected to having my property changed from half acre zoning to 1.5 acre zoning because of the effect on my property’s value, but I finally accepted it for the good of the Town.
At the time no one asked that I give up my residential status. Ms. Kuhn is now demanding that.
I often hear people talk of property rights, which means to them that they should be able to do anything they want with their property. I contend it has a far more persuasive meaning. When you buy property, it entitles you to many things to include police protection, the provision of schools, and many other benefits.
Further, through zoning it provides you with an understanding of the environment in which you can expect to live when you make your greatest investment.
There is no greater property right than the insurance of security, peace and tranquility and the maintenance of property values . that zoning provides. Ms. Kuhn is challenging these rights.
