Two county precincts, Amissville and Chester Gap went to Mr. Cantor. In Amissville, Mr. Cantor won by a margin of two votes with 259 votes while Mr. Jones received 257. In Chester Gap, Mr. Cantor won 85 votes; Mr. Jones received 70.

In the U. S. Senate race, U. S. Sen. John W. Warner R-Va., who was so strong Democrats could find no one to run against him, won a fifth' term as expected with 83.76 percent of the vote.

On the ballot, there were two statewide bond issues and two proposed constitutional amendments and, as expected, they passed both in the county and in the 7th District
