Mr. McCarthy expects that there will be no further impact from the loss of the $50,000 this fiscal year, but he said that he fears that the State legislature will make more significant cuts when they return after the New Year.
He noted that the Governor is constitutionally limited to a maximum of 15 percent in budget cuts, and that legislative approval is required for anything greater.
He expressed fears that State revenue shortfalls of as much as $2.5B will result in future losses for primary and secondary schools, and healthcare and other programs.
