The WSA currently pays contractors to perform this service, and the new truck would save money in the long term, though requiring a large initial expense.

Also on the distant horizon is the need for a new, cement treatment plant in Sperryville. The current plant is made of steel, and the corrosive agents present in wastewater have begun to take their toll on the metal. However, according to Jenkins and Keyser, the current plant should be able to sustain for several more years, and its eventual replacement is more of a long term concern.
