good at it.” During her college years she kept in touch with her high school sweetheart, Thomas Griffin who went to school at Virginia Tech.
The two of them studied abroad the same year, she attended classes in Rome while Thomas studied in south Switzerland. They would meet each other occasionally during their stay in Europe and were engaged in an ice cream shop in Florence.
After they graduated, they had a summer marriage. Whereas Tbm went to work for the Department of Commerce, Welby began teaching in Northern Virginia. “I really wanted to gain a reputation before I ended up back at Wakefield,” she said.
Now she is moving into her father’s old classroom and getting history curriculum tips from her mother.
Among the classes she will be teaching are 7th grade Latin, British History, and PreRenaissance Cultures.
“Dad always taught Latin and mom taught history,” she said, “I see myself as a combination of the two.”
