Welcome to my column. My name is Brant Marlett and I’m a 23-year-old junior attending Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.

This is my column about the eveiyday life of a college student where things aren’t always what they seem to be. I will take you on a journey through my feelings, my experiences, my ups and downs, my trials and tribulations and my path into uncertainty. This is going to be a first hand, introspective blog style look that will give an honest and real representation of college life as I see it. Rappahannock roots

I grew up and have lived in Rappahannock County for 22 years. It has been a wonderful place to grow up and I am proud to call it my home. But as anyone my age will tell you, it is not the most exciting or opportunistic place to live. It is beautiful, yet boring, a sight for sore eyes, but a dead end for the youth who crave more from life; and ever since I was a little kid I always wanted more. I wanted to experience life outside the majestic Blue Ridge Mountain
