Fauquier County School Superintendent Dr. J. David Martin who was instrumental in the creation of Mountain Vista along with Fauquier County School Board member Sally Murray were also in attendance at the event. Each offered words of encouragement to teachers and students about to embark on the new program and gratitude towards those who have worked for the past two years to create it, including Sylvia Wadsworth, the school’s recently retired planning director.

“She provided a great deal of insight,” said Martin, who currently serves as Executive superintendent for Mountain Vista. “We’ve had speed bumps and speed limits, but she put us on cruise control and led us all the way.”

In her words to the audience, Wadsworth quickly deflected the spotlight away from herself and onto the community and students.
