A concluding thought
The Shenandoah National Park means many things to many people, but it’s not just its intrinsic value that makes it valuable to us.
It is the emotional connection that people make in their memories that the Park has become both a regional and national treasure.
Each of our national parks was created with a specific mission. The Shenandoah National Park was established to bring the “national park experience” to the increasingly urban East, but also to provide a sanctuary for recreation and for conservation of the diversity of resources—plant, animal, and cultural—in our important geological area.
