After several more years of struggling with leadership and financial difficulties, Tucker and her remaining Wakefield Country Day supporters, agreed that it was essential to hire a headmaster capable of realizing and sustaining their dream. In March of 2004, they hired Kathleen Grove, an assistant superintendent in the Arlington Public School System.
“I was originally concerned about ‘public schoolism’, said I\icker, “but after we met her I thought to myself, “this lady really has her act together. She is the one.”’
Today, Tucker has nothing but praise for Kathleen Grove. “She runs a tight ship,” Tucker said warmly. “She covers all her bases, maintaining a financial bottom line. She has also eliminated most of our debt and has us running in the black. As we speak we are planning a large classroom addition to the school.”
