board announced the new appointments they had made since the last meeting.
The board hired Elizabeth Seeley and Laurie Allen as 4th grade teachers for the Rappahannock County Elementary School.
Brandon Capes was also hired as an Information Systems Assistant and Elizabeth Blubaugh was appointed as a Spanish teacher at the Rappahannock County High School.
Orientation for the new employees begins August 14.

Although the field will be ready for the season, progress on the track has ground to a halt. The surfacing crew has reported that in order to put the rubber surface on the asphalt, it can’t be shaded by the sun. They have suggested that enough trees be cleared to insure a 20 ft. area along the track.
Chappell noted that this problem had not been mentioned in the original contract. “I have been talking with them about what trees need to be removed,” Chappell said, “but they are changing the rules mid-stream.” The process of removing trees will be difficult, especially since the asphalt has already been laid.
