International Day on Friday was a culmination of the week’s activities, when students presented their displays to the student body and enjoyed music, ethnic food and special demonstrations.
Cameron Gressly, a WCDS parent, displayed objects collected from her family’s 20 years in various parts of Africa. Her son Nathan attends kindergarten at WCDS. Gressly and her husband met in the Peace Corps in Africa raising their six, children at their various posts in Kenya, Nigeria, Mauritania, Ivory Coast and Guinea.
Yasuyuki Akashi served miso soup and sticky rice from his native Japan. Yasuyuki is studying English, as well as other subjects, as a WCDS international student. Cecilie Greve of Oslo; Norway, Pablo Corvinos of Zaraguza in northwest Spain; Korean students Seong-Muk Jeong, Jong Lim, Ho-sung Woo, Peter Kim and Se-Youn Lim; Bora Ercanturk of TYirkey; Thanh Duy Huyunh of Vietnam; Junilson Brito of Brazil; Victoria and Nuria Rubio-Lafita of Spain; and Sarah Matot of Belgium also represented their countries at the celebration.
