Parents expressed their frustrations with the football program Monday night, as Principal Roger Mello presented the 2007 schedule. “I know that we are all here for the same reasons,” Mello said, “We all want to see the football program improve, we want to make the games competitive, and we want to turn the program into a rewarding experience for our kids.”
Mello was quick to say, however, that pulling out of the Bull Rim District was not the answer. As the nascent varsity program struggles through its second year, coaches, players, . and their parents have been debating whether or not to take the football program out of the Bull District.
If this happened, the Panthers Varsity team would play only independent schools.

Next year’s proposed sched. ule pits the Panthers against four different independent teams prior to their district games. Principal Mello said that > rather than pull the team out of the district altogether, games with independent schools would offer players a chance to pompete against teams of similar size schools. “Hopefully that will give them the momentum to be competitive against the district teams,” said Mello.
Football parent Doug Butler seemed fairly satisfied with the new schedule. “The only problem I have is that our first game is with Luray” said Butler, “We would have to change an awful lot to be competitive against that team.”
