Virginia wines aren’t getting the respect they deserve, and Jennifer McCloud decided to do something about that.
McCloud has been producing award-winning wines at her Chrysalis Vineyard in Aldie since 1998. She touted her “Best of Virginia” plan to some fellow winemakers, and it bore fruit Friday afternoon at the Poplar Springs Inn and Spa in Casanova - a tasting of the 12 best whites, 13 best reds and three best dessert wines culled from an original field of 101 wines.
Let’s get the best of the best together, McCloud said, and have a really competitive tasting.
Deciding who is best was purely subjective, McCloud said. They just know each other and they know good wine.
