deer horns, felines sporting Santa wear, guinea pigs with long white beards... you get die general idea.

In short, we're looking for the area's most spirited pets, or shots of your favorite fondly animal decked out for the holidays.

So get those creative juices flowing — the harder we laugh (or coo, as die case may be), die more likely it is we'll pick your photo to run in die Times-Democrat, Rappahannock News or Gainesville limes come Christinas time.

Rules and regulations follow below.

• Photos of your pet or pets can be submitted via snail mail or e-mail. Our street address is 39 Culpeper St., Wanenton, VA 20186. If you choose to e-mail an image, send it to sanspach@timespapers.com with the subject heading "Spirited Pet." E-mailed entries should be attached in .jpg format and in as high a resolution as possible.

• Submissions will be judged based on effort, creativity and photographic quality. Cuteness counts!

• The deadline for submissions is Dec. 15 at 5 p.m.

• All entries must include your full name, the name and species of the pet, name of the photographer, your address, phone number and e-n^fl address.

Prizes from the Warrfhton Pet Shop will be awarded to the first, second and third-place winners. ♦
