Building and Development

Position with the Code Enforcement Division of the Department of Building & Development. Duties include conducting all requested building inspections. Applicant must have a general knowledge of materials, methods and practices involved in installing and maintaining all building components of buildings and structures. Must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with owners, architects and contractors and be able to read and interpret construction plans and documents. Applicant must have good computer skills and excellent customer service skills. Requires the ability to conduct visual and physical inspections; ability to climb ladders and stairs; ability to maneuver in crawl spaces; ability to maneuver through construction debris. Requires education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School and four years of experience in related field. Must become certified by the State Board of Housing as a Building Inspector within one year of employment. Must have and maintain a valid drivers license. DMV check required for successful candidate.
